In their opening round-robin play against Group B rivals Wales on Monday, the United States ended an eight-year World Cup drought.

It's safe to conclude that the red, white, and blue entered the battle with undeniable attention, despite a few cards in the opening of play.

Timothy Weah scored the first goal for the Americans in eight years in the 35th minute. The winger's accurate shot past Welsh goalie Wayne Hennessey was helped by Christian Pulisic.
