The first ever Mega Millions jackpot of $1.35 billion was won by a player in Maine.

When the winning numbers for the Mega Millions lottery were announced on Friday, January 13, 2019.

A ticket that was bought in the state of Maine matched those numbers to win the estimated $1.35 billion grand prize.

This was the first time that Maine had won the Mega Millions jackpot.

Late on Friday night, the following winning combination of numbers was selected: 30, 43, 45, 46, 61, and the gold Mega Ball 14.

According to the records of the Maine State Lottery, the winning ticket was purchased at the Hometown Gas & Grill located in Lebanon, Maine.

The town in southern Maine that has over 6,500 people living in it is next to New Hampshire.

"I'll tell you one thing: there's quite a commotion going on at our little town gas station this morning," the proprietor Fred Cotreau stated.

The first thing he did was examine his lottery tickets to see whether he had purchased the winning one, but he discovered that he had not.

"It's amazing to have sold it, but it's simply more exciting for a single winner, and I'm just really hope it's someone here in town,".
