A convenience store in a rural area of Maine is the centre of attention

The proprietor of the Maine shop who sold the winning Mega Millions ticket on Friday.

The grand prize of $1.35 billion has been the topic of conversation across the state.

According to the Maine State Lottery, the winning ticket was purchased at the Hometown Gas & Grill located in Lebanon, Maine. 

 Over 6,500 people make their home in the relatively tiny town in Maine. 

According to Fred Cotreau, the proprietor of the store, everyone is eager to find out who the winner is.

We got quite a crew of regular coffee guys in the morning, so we're all kind of looking around each other to see if anybody's daily routine has changed.

According to Cotreau, the retailer will be compensated in the amount of $50,000 for selling the winning ticket.

He said that the store's lottery machine has experienced an increase in both the number of customers.
