The soaring Powerball jackpot gets yet another increase for this Wednesday drawing, Oct. 26. Tonight’s $700 million prize ranks as the fifth largest in Powerball’s history and will be the eighth largest lottery prize ever awarded in the US if won tonight. The lump sum cash value of the prize is $335.7 million, before withholding.
This will be Powerball’s highest jackpot of the year so far. The last time the jackpot crossed the $700 million mark was in 2018, won by a lucky player in Maryland.
A player in Pennsylvania won the most recent Powerball jackpot on Aug. 3. A Washington County man bought the $206.9 million-winning ticket at a Sheetz store in Westmoreland County.

Recent Powerball drawing numbers and winners
In the previous drawing on Monday, one ticket sold in Texas matched all five white balls, 18-23-35-45-54, to win the second-tier prize of $1 million. The Powerball drawn was 16, and the Power Play multiplier was 4x.
The biggest winners in the state of PA included three players who matched four of the five white balls, and the Powerball. Those players each won $50,000. Monday would have been a great time to have the $1 Power Play option on those tickets. With Power Play, they would have been worth $200,000 each.
What are the chances of hitting the Powerball jackpot?
Your odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot on a single ticket always remains the same, at 1 in 292.2 million. There are nine ways to win on a Powerball ticket, with the overall odds of winning a prize being 1 in 24.9.
If no one hits tonight’s jackpot, the prize expects to jump to $800 million. The jackpot is based on the amount of ticket sales leading up to the drawing. With each consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner, a percentage of the sales is added to the jackpot. A whopping jackpot, like the one currently available, attracts even more players and tends to get large increases with each passing drawing.
Powerball tickets are $2 per play. Tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Tickets are sold through state lotteries, who retain more than half of the proceeds from the sales to pay lower-tier prize winnings and fund worthy programs like education, environmental conservation or senior services.
